KRASNODARSKAYA 99

KRASNODARSKAYA 99 is a semi-dwarf variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of the lutenscent type, bred by the P. P. Lukyanenko Krasnodar Institute of Agriculture. The plant height is about 64-95 cm, with a semi-erect bush and a cylindrical dense white head. The grain is large, oval-shaped, and the mass of 1000 grains varies from 36 to 49 g. The vegetative period lasts from 225 to 289 days; the variety is medium-late, maturing 2-5 days later than the Skiflyanka variety. In terms of resistance to lodging, drought, and spring frosts, the variety exceeds standards, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Adygea, Stavropol Krai, as well as the Pre-Donetz and Southern zones of Rostov Oblast. KRASNODARSKAYA 99 is distinguished by high yield and grain quality. The average yield in the region is about 55.5 centners/ha, which is 5 centners/ha higher than the average standard, and the maximum yield reached 107 centners/ha. Over six years of observation, the yield with the best predecessors, such as cultivated fallow, perennial forage, and black fallow, averaged 93.8 centners/ha. Grain quality is high, belonging to the "valuable" category and sometimes "strong" grain, which confirms its demand in production. It is recommended to avoid sowing after grain corn to maintain productivity and crop health. The variety has good winter hardiness and drought resistance, as well as high resistance to lodging. It is moderately resistant to brown rust but susceptible to yellow rust and septoria. Under field conditions, resistance to loose smut, septoria, and powdery mildew is noted, however, it is susceptible to brown rust and moderately susceptible to head blight. Optimal sowing dates correspond to regional recommendations, sowing at the beginning and slightly earlier than optimal dates is allowed. The sowing rate is about 5 million viable seeds per hectare, ensuring good development and high crop productivity.
