Description ZIMNITSA
Zimnitisa is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with a mid-early maturity period and a vegetation period ranging from 224 to 278 days. The plants are of medium height, ranging from 73 to 100 cm, with a semi-spreading or semi-dense bush and a pyramidal, loose ear measuring 9-11 cm in length. The ear lemma is egg-shaped to oval, with a short blunt awn, and the grain is colored, of medium size, with a thousand-kernel weight of 37 to 49 g. The variety belongs to the lutescens group and is characterized by a weak to medium waxy coating on the sheath of the flag leaf and the ear. Zimnitisa exhibits high resistance to lodging and good winter hardiness, comparable to the benchmark variety Don 95. Drought resistance is enhanced, allowing for successful cultivation in the North Caucasus region, including the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories. Winter hardiness is high, while disease resistance is moderate: the variety is resistant to brown and yellow rust, powdery mildew, and Septoria leaf blotch, but is susceptible to covered smut and Fusarium head blight. The seeding rate is approximately 5 million seeds per hectare. The Zimnitisa variety is distinguished by its excellent baking qualities, making it valuable for agricultural production. Yields in the region average 48.6 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching up to 85.5 c/ha under optimal conditions. The variety is recommended for cultivation on fallow land and after row-crop predecessors, demonstrating stable yield performance and adaptation to the climatic conditions of the North Caucasus.
