Toccata — this is a modern, intensive type of soft winter wheat, characterized by high yield and versatility in cultivation. Plants are medium-height with strong, medium-thickness stems, providing resistance to lodging. The variety is glabrous, medium-maturing, with a vegetation period of 79 to 97 days, and 1000-grain weight ranging from 33 to 47 grams. It is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including Ryazan, Tula, Belgorod, Kursk, Lipetsk, and Tambov Oblasts, and demonstrates stable yields averaging 85–90 centners per hectare under intensive conditions and 36.9–50.8 c/ha in the Central and Central Chernozem regions respectively.
The Toccata variety exhibits high drought resistance and adaptability to different soil types, making it suitable for various agroclimatic conditions. It possesses enhanced resistance to major wheat diseases such as powdery mildew, Fusarium, and brown leaf rust, significantly reducing the risk of yield losses. Despite its high disease resistance, full fungicide protection is recommended under adverse weather conditions to maintain crop health.
In terms of baking properties, the variety belongs to class «A», confirming its food use and high grain quality. Gluten content varies from 27.9 to 30.7%, ensuring excellent technological properties for bread and bakery product manufacturing. Early sowing, preferably in March or «February windows», and seeding rates of 3.5 to 5.0 million germination seeds per hectare, promote optimal plant development and maximum productivity.
