Winter wheat variety Anabel is a glumeless crop with high yield potential reaching 90-95 centners per hectare. The seeds of this variety have a 1000-seed mass of 39–40 g and contain more than 12.5% protein and over 27% crude gluten, ensuring high grain quality. The recommended seeding rate is 4.5–5.0 million germinating seeds per hectare. This variety is characterized by good drought resistance, excellent lodging resistance, and high tolerance to major diseases, including powdery mildew, brown and yellow rust, and fusarium, with resistance ratings of 8 to 9 points.
Winter wheat Anabel is well-adapted to growing conditions in Ukraine, resistant to low temperatures and lodging, making it popular among farmers. To achieve maximum yield, seeds should be sown at the end of March or beginning of April, when soil temperature reaches +2-3 degrees. An important aspect of agronomy is the proper selection of preceding crops, which include sugar beet, late potato, corn, sunflower, rapeseed, and grain legumes.
To protect crops from pests, especially cereal ground beetles, it is recommended to till the stubble to conserve moisture and improve soil sanitation, as well as inter-row treatment in late May – early June to eliminate larvae and pupae. If necessary, insecticide treatments of field margins may be applied. For prevention of fungal diseases such as rust, resistant varieties should be used, and seeds may be treated with fungicides if needed. Wheat Anabel is not treated with seed protectants, allowing farmers to choose their own protective agents and application methods.
