Wheat Tybalt

German genetics for field success: The Tybalt wheat variety

The 'Tybalt' wheat variety represents the excellence of European breeding, developed through a collaboration of industry leaders including Deutsche Saatveredelung and W. von Borries-Eckendorf. Distributed by Saaten-Union and Wiersum Plantbreeding, this variety is a cornerstone for farmers prioritizing stability and high-performance in intensive cultivation systems.

Key agronomic attributes

Tybalt’s primary distinction is its robust morphology. With a plant height of only 40-50 cm, it exhibits exceptional resistance to lodging, a critical factor for farmers aiming for high yields through intensive nitrogen management. With an optimal productive stem density of 4.5-5.0 million units per hectare, the variety consistently achieves yield potential ranging from 6 to 7 tons per hectare.

• Phytosanitary resilience: Tybalt possesses a strong genetic defense mechanism against a range of common cereal diseases. It shows high resistance to yellow rust, brown rust, Septoria, and Fusarium head blight.
• Operational efficiency: The variety’s inherent resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, Mycosphaerella leaf blotch, and brown leaf blotch allows growers to optimize their fungicide programs, reducing production costs.

In the market, Tybalt has established itself as a reliable 'workhorse.' It is specifically valued by producers who require short-stature wheat with high tiller density. By choosing Tybalt, farmers secure a crop that remains standing under challenging weather conditions while demonstrating consistent disease tolerance, ensuring a predictable and high-quality harvest.
