Winter wheat variety Pannonikus is an early-maturing, strong-stemmed variety with high grain quality, suitable for cultivation in central and southern-eastern parts of Ukraine, as well as in the Polissia and forest-steppe zones. This variety is characterized by high yield stability and high potential, reaching 80-100 centners per hectare. Plants form multi-stemmed bushes up to 80-90 cm tall, exhibiting high resistance to lodging, which helps preserve yield under adverse weather conditions.
The grain of variety Pannonikus has high thousand-grain weight, ranging from 42.5 to 50 g, and high protein content (14.0-15.2%). The grain quality is confirmed by high values of naturalness, bread volume, and falling number, making it highly demanded in the baking industry. The variety belongs to the strong group, erythrospermum subtype, and has medium levels of raw gluten.
Pannonikus exhibits high resistance to major leaf diseases such as powdery mildew, septoria, and fusarium of the head, as well as moderate resistance to rust (brown and yellow). In addition, the variety demonstrates good winter hardiness, high drought tolerance, and resistance to lodging. Sowing is recommended during early, medium, and late periods with seeding rates ranging from 3.0 to 4.7 million seeds per hectare, depending on sowing time and region.
