Wheat of the 'Preva' variety is an early-maturing winter variety developed within the 'EAST-EAST' program for the continental climate conditions of southern and eastern Ukraine. This variety is characterized by high cold and frost resistance, as well as resistance to lodging, ensuring reliable harvests under challenging climatic conditions. Its flexibility in sowing dates and suitability for cultivation after any preceding crops make 'Preva' a universal choice for farmers in the region.
The variety can be awned or awnless, with both forms being identical in terms of usage and yield. However, the presence of awns helps protect the grain from damage, for example, from hail, thereby improving the quality and preservation of the harvest. The grain of the 'Preva' variety is characterized by high protein and gluten content, which is an important indicator of quality. By applying nitrogen fertilizers during growth phases and the beginning of heading, the protein level in the grain reaches 14-14.5%, positively affecting the technological properties of flour.
The quality of the grain is also determined by parameters such as sclerity, naturalness, and absence of foreign impurities. High sclerity ensures mechanical strength of the grain, while good completeness (naturalness) indicates the completion of biochemical processes and high content of endosperm, starch, sugars, and proteins. Grain of the 'Preva' variety should be healthy, undamaged, with a pleasant aroma and a rich yellow color, meeting the requirements of the current standard DSTU 3768:2019.
