LG Absalon

LG Absalon — an early, high-yielding, high-productivity wheat variety developed for central-western and southern regions of Ukraine, as well as suitable for cultivation in the Polesie, Forest-Steppe, and Northern Steppe regions. This variety is characterized by stable high yields and grain quality, confirmed by an average protein content of about 13.5% and gluten content of 21%. Plants are medium-height, approximately 85 cm tall, with 1000-seed mass ranging from 42–44 grams. It is glabrous, with medium-sized ears, facilitating harvesting and processing.

LG Absalon exhibits high resistance to various biotic and abiotic stresses. It demonstrates excellent drought tolerance (rating 8–9 out of 9), winter hardiness at level 7–9, as well as resistance to lodging and shattering, ensuring yield stability under adverse weather conditions. The variety shows high resistance to major wheat diseases, including leaf septoria, brown and yellow rust, powdery mildew, and Fusarium ear blight, significantly reducing the need for intensive fungicide applications.

This variety is suitable for minimal soil tillage technologies, making it attractive for modern agrotechnologies. Seeding rates vary from 3.3 to 5 million seeds per hectare depending on sowing dates and growing conditions.
