Wheat Mirlena

The Choice for Intensive Wheat Production

The Mirlena winter wheat variety, developed by the V.M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute, is a powerhouse for modern farms focused on high-yield output. Designed for those who manage their crop with precision, this variety can push yields toward the 8–9 tonnes per hectare mark under optimal nutrient management.

Key Agronomic Strengths

• Structural Integrity: With a plant height of 70–80 cm, Mirlena offers excellent lodging resistance. This is vital when aiming for the target productive stem density of 4.0–4.5 million per hectare, ensuring the crop remains standing until harvest regardless of intensive nitrogen applications.
• Robust Disease Profile: Genetic resistance to leaf rust, septoria, fusarium head blight, and powdery mildew significantly lowers the pressure of frequent fungicide spraying. In seasons with high precipitation, this variety maintains canopy health, protecting yield components from early senescence.
• Efficient Lifecycle: The 260–270 day vegetation period provides a predictable operational window, allowing agronomists to streamline spring field activities and harvest logistics effectively.

Operational Recommendations

Mirlena excels in intensive production systems where soil fertility is high and nitrogen management is precise. The goal of this variety is to utilize the crop’s ability to produce a dense, uniform stand. By maintaining the recommended plant density, growers can exploit the variety's potential for high-volume grain production. It is a reliable 'workhorse' variety that rewards standard, consistent agricultural practices with a heavy, healthy yield.
