Wheat KWS Sphere

Stable yields under intensive load

Winter wheat "KVS Sfera" from the German breeding company KWS is a choice for farmers who prioritize predictability in high-pressure disease environments. The variety is geared toward intensive cultivation technologies where pathogen control is a top priority. Thanks to its comprehensive genetic resistance, this hybrid minimizes the risk of grain quality loss even during periods of high humidity throughout the ripening stage.

Field-proven defensive potential

The particular value of "KVS Sfera" lies in its resistance to key foliar and spike diseases. In commercial fields, the variety demonstrates high resistance to:

• Yellow and brown rust;
• Septoria;
• Fusarium head blight;
• Wheat streak mosaic virus.

This genetic foundation allows farmers to optimize expenditure on fungicide treatments. Even under conditions favorable for Helminthosporium, Mycosphaerella leaf spot, or powdery mildew, the crop retains its photosynthetically active leaf surface for longer, which directly translates into better grain filling.

Agronomic nuances and seed management

An important factor when working with "KVS Sfera" is the thousand-kernel weight (TKW), which is less than 30 grams. This requires the agronomist to precisely calibrate the seed drill to ensure the correct seeding rate, avoiding overcrowding and providing optimal nutrient space for each plant. At the same time, strong lodging resistance allows for the confident use of intensive nitrogen fertilizer doses without fear of yield loss during adverse weather conditions before harvest. This variety is an ideal fit for operations looking to combine high yield potential with robust disease protection and harvest efficiency.
