Wheat variety Tobak is a winter soft wheat with medium-late maturity, recommended for cultivation in the Forest-steppe and Steppe zones of Ukraine and in the Polesie region. This variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to various climatic conditions, including frosts, heat, and drought. Tobak belongs to the low-growing, intensive varieties with good root system development in autumn and active green mass growth in spring, which contributes to stable yield and grain quality.
One of the key features of this variety is its high resistance to a wide range of diseases, including yellow rust, powdery mildew, leaf septoria, Fusarium head blight, and barley yellow dwarf virus. Thanks to this, as well as resistance to lodging and shattering, Tobak ensures a stable and high grain yield, which may exceed 120 ц/ha. The thousand-grain weight is 47-50 grams, indicating high grain filling and density.
The quality of wheat grain of the Tobak variety is characterized by protein content at the level of 13-13.5%, gluten content — 28.4%, and flour strength reaching 260, which allows obtaining high-quality flour with excellent baking properties. Recommended sowing dates — from September 15 to October 15, with seeding rates from 300 to 450 seeds per square meter depending on sowing conditions. The variety is characterized by low requirement for pre-sowing soil preparation and is suitable for intensive agriculture, ensuring high yield and product quality even under adverse weather conditions.
