Kreiser

Cruiser — a winter hard wheat variety developed by the Selection and Genetics Institute of the National Center for Seed Production and Variety Testing of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Included in the Ukrainian Plant Variety Register since 2010 and recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones. This variety is characterized by a medium-early maturity and high yield potential, reaching 6.3 t/ha, confirmed by yields of 59.6 c/ha in the steppe zone and 65.2 c/ha in the forest-steppe.

Plants of the Cruiser variety are 105–110 cm tall, with dense, intensely red-colored spikes. The 1000-seed weight is 49 g, and the grain density is 780 g. Protein content varies from 14.1% to 16.2%, making the grain suitable for grain use. The variety is characterized by high resistance to multiple diseases as well as to stress factors, including drought, frost, and winter conditions.

For optimal cultivation, the recommended seeding rate is 5 million germinating seeds per hectare or approximately 260 kg/ha, with seed depth of 4–6 cm. These parameters ensure good germination and plant development, contributing to maximum yield. The Cruiser variety is suitable for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality and resilient grain in forest-steppe and steppe zones.
