Hard winter wheat variety Ellada is a high-yielding medium-maturity variety developed by the FSBSI «Donskoy ASC» and intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region of Russia. This variety belongs to the Leucomyrum group and is distinguished by high yield: the average yield on a green manure crop reaches 9.54 t/ha, while the grain productivity potential is up to 12.87 t/ha. Ellada is characterized by resistance to lodging and diseases, which ensures crop stability and reduces cultivation risks.
The grain quality of the Ellada variety meets the GOST requirements for hard wheat. The grain features high vitreosity (91%), weight 817 g/L, protein content of 14.41%, and gluten of II quality group (26.4%). SDS sedimentation indicators are 38 ml, and the falling number is 438 s, indicating good pasta and cereal properties of the grain. These characteristics make the variety attractive for producing pasta and high-quality cereal products.
For protection of wheat crops of the Ellada variety, herbicides are recommended at a rate of 0.006-0.008 L/ha, which effectively suppress a wide range of broadleaf weeds, including sow thistles and prickly sow thistle. Spraying is carried out at the 2-3 leaf stage and tillering stage of the crop, as well as in early weed growth phases with the addition of a surfactant. The preparation is effective at air temperatures from +5 to +25°C and does not exert a negative effect on subsequent crops in crop rotation. Its action is little dependent on soil condition and weather conditions, which ensures reliable crop protection and ease of application.
