Winter wheat variety Cubus from the company KWS is a medium-maturing, high-yielding intensive type variety belonging to the lutescens group. This variety is distinguished by its high productive tillering, allowing seeding rates to be reduced to 3.0-3.5 million germinating seeds per hectare. Plant height is approximately 80-90 cm, and the vegetation period lasts from 265 to 280 days. Thousand kernel weight varies within the range of 41.3-52.4 grams, indicating the variety's large kernel size. Cubus belongs to Class A, corresponding to the Ukrainian premium wheat class, and is characterized by high protein content (11.0-11.5%) and gluten content (25.2-27.2%).
The variety has high yield potential, reaching 7-10 tons per hectare, with an average yield of approximately 94.9 centners per hectare, with the possibility of exceeding 100 centners per hectare under optimal conditions. Cubus exhibits high drought resistance and broad-spectrum disease resistance, including Fusarium head blight, brown leaf rust, powdery mildew, root rots, and pests such as the cereal leaf beetle. Thanks to these qualities, the variety is well-suited for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, including the Polissia and forest-steppe zones, as well as areas such as Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipro, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv.
For sowing, the recommended period is from September 10 to 25 with a seeding rate of 3.0-3.5 million seeds per hectare, ensuring efficient use of seed material and high productivity. The packaging unit is 1 ton (Big-Bag), which is convenient for transportation and storage. The Cubus variety is an excellent choice for farmers aiming to achieve high yields of quality wheat with good resistance to adverse conditions and diseases.
