Lada Odeska — this is a winter wheat variety, developed by individual selection from the hybrid combination Don's Semi-dwarf / Lada Odeska, registered in the State Register of Varieties of Ukraine since 2008. It belongs to the erythrospermum type and is characterized by weak anthocyanin coloring of the coleoptile and awns, upright plant form, medium stem thickness and strength. The ear has a spindle shape, medium length, and straw-yellow color, while the grain is red. The average grain yield is approximately 6.5 t/ha, with grain density ranging from 760–780 g/l. The overall bread-making rating of the variety is 4.4 points, indicating its value for the bread industry. The vegetative period lasts 288 days; the variety is fast-maturing and resistant to complex diseases, including powdery mildew, brown leaf rust, and ear smut.
This variety is highly adaptable to various agro-ecological conditions, especially dry steppe conditions, due to its xeromorphic structure. Lada Odeska has a large, well-filled ear containing 62–82 grains, and high productive tillering. It ripens simultaneously with the Antonivka variety, allowing for effective harvest planning. The variety is suitable for cultivation following non-wheat predecessors and demonstrates enhanced tolerance to early sowing. It responds well to nitrogen fertilization, which contributes to increased yield.
Recommended sowing dates for Lada Odeska vary by region: in Polissia — from September 10 to 20, in the forest-steppe zone — from September 15 to 22. The seeding rate is 5.0–5.5 million viable seeds per hectare. The variety shows moderate winter hardiness, high resistance to lodging, and good adaptability to plant environment conditions. Yield in post-registration trials reached 90–95 c/ha, making Lada Odeska one of the most productive winter wheat varieties, recommended for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine.
