Odesska Lybidka

Odesska Lybidka — a high-yielding winter wheat variety of intensive type, intended for universal use on various agrofond and preceding crops. This variety belongs to the erythrospermum type and is characterized by high genetic potential for yield and grain quality. The vegetation period is 283-285 days, and the yield in special agrotechnical trials ranges from 7.8 to 11.8 t/ha. The variety has relative stability in reaction to contrasting sowing dates, making it a reliable choice for different climatic conditions.

The spike of the Odessa Lybidka variety is white, cylindrical, 10.3-11.8 cm long, medium density (23-25 spikelets per 10 cm of stem). There are awn-like appendages at the upper part of the spike, 2.2-2.5 cm long. The glume is oval-shaped, medium-sized, with a short awn. The grain is egg-shaped, red, medium-sized, 6.58-6.76 mm long and 3.36-3.48 mm wide. The variety's resistance to lodging and shattering is rated at 8 points, to root rot, septoria, and fusarium — 6-7 points, to brown rust — 5-6 points, and to powdery mildew — 4-5 points.

For sowing, a seed rate of 4.5-5.0 million viable seeds per hectare is recommended. The variety shows high positive response to improved agrofond, enabling maximum realization of its genetic potential under intensive cultivation technologies. Lybidka Odessa is a product of the Selection-Genetic Institute — National Center of Seed Science and Variety Testing of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, registered in 2010.
