The spring wheat variety Bogena was included in the state register in 2017 and belongs to the soft wheat grain group. This intensive-type variety is recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine. Bogena is characterized by high yield, reaching a maximum of 6.78 t/ha, which exceeds the standard variety Elegia Mironovska by 0.55 t/ha. The 1000-grain weight is 48 g, the grain density is 755 g/l, and the sclerophylly reaches 90%. The vegetation period lasts from 90 to 97 days, and plant height varies from 77.4 to 89.2 cm. The ear is pyramidal in shape with medium density.
The variety exhibits high resistance to adverse factors: drought resistance is rated 7.3–8.7 points, lodging and shattering resistance — 8.7–9.0 points. It also shows high resistance to a number of diseases and pests, including the Swedish fly, powdery mildew, brown rust, root rot, fusarium of the ear, and the leaf-lice, with resistance ratings from 7.6 to 9.0 points. To successfully cultivate the Bogena variety, it is essential to follow agronomic requirements, including optimal sowing dates and maintaining soil moisture at no less than 65%. The seeds of this variety are used for sowing on prepared soils and are intended for producing high-quality grain, which is used in the bakery and milling industries. Thanks to its stable grain yield and good quality characteristics, Bogena is a reliable choice for farmers focused on achieving high yields and quality products.
