Wheat BRAVENS

Scandinavian breeding for modern fields

The «Bravens» wheat variety from the Danish company Nordic Seed A/S is a population variety set to enter the Ukrainian market in 2026. In the face of a changing climate, the primary goal of the breeders was to create a crop capable of maintaining yield stability under extreme stress. While Danish genetics are traditionally focused on intensive farming, «Bravens» demonstrates an adaptability that exceeds standard northern expectations.

Field performance and resilience

The core focus of this variety is risk management during the growing season:

• Drought and heat tolerance: The variety possesses a high capacity for regeneration following periods of temperature stress. Its deep root system allows for efficient moisture uptake from lower soil horizons, which is critical for the southern and central regions of Ukraine.
• Stem strength: «Bravens» shows excellent resistance to lodging. Even under high-intensity fertilization and the formation of heavy ears, the stem remains upright, minimizing harvest losses.
• Phytosanitary profile: The variety’s genetic base includes modern markers for resistance to key leaf and ear diseases. This allows agronomists to optimize fungicide protection, reducing pesticide load without compromising yield potential.

Cultivation recommendations

Due to its plasticity, the variety adapts well to various soil types. It demonstrates predictable performance on both chernozems and less fertile loams. «Bravens» is an optimal choice for farms that prioritize intensive technologies but are seeking a variety with a «safety margin» against adverse weather conditions during critical growth stages.
