Wheat MIP Svitlana is a high-yielding, intensive-type wheat variety recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine. The variety has a medium-early maturity with a vegetation period of 88–94 days and plant height ranging from 78 to 95 cm. The ear is pyramidal in shape and of medium density, which contributes to good yield formation. MIP Svitlana exhibits high resistance to lodging, shattering, and major diseases such as powdery mildew, gray mold, leaf septoria, brown leaf rust, Fusarium ear rot, and root rots. Additionally, the variety is resistant to the pest – the harlequin bug – and tolerates drought and germination on straw.
This wheat variety has high technological grain quality. The 1000-grain weight varies from 32.6 to 41.4 g, the test weight reaches 754 g/l, and the kernel plumpness is 96%. The grain contains 13.4–14.1% protein and 27.7–29.1% crude gluten, ensuring high flour strength — from 210 to 320 arbitrary units. The sedimentation value of the grain is 56 ml, confirming its high quality and belonging to the group of premium wheats. These characteristics make MIP Svitlana an excellent choice for producing high-quality flour.
For successful cultivation of this variety, it is recommended to use calibrated and treated high-quality seeds at a sowing rate of 5.5–6.0 million viable seeds per hectare. The seed sowing depth should be 3–5 cm with subsequent firming. The variety responds well to high levels of mineral nutrition, so the main fertilizer should include N60P60K60, along with mandatory nitrogen topdressing during the tillering and heading stages. For protection against pests and diseases, 2–3 applications of plant protection products are recommended. Seed packaging is available in big-bags of 1000 kg or sacks of 50 kg, with a minimum order of 50 kg.
