Winter wheat Benefis — a high-yield, intensive type variety, recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone, as well as in the Polissia and western and northern regions of Ukraine. The vegetation period is approximately 282–304 days, corresponding to the medium-maturing type. Plants have erect stems, height ranging from 99 to 112 cm, and cylindrical-shaped ears of medium density, 8–10 cm long, with long awns positioned in the upper half of the ear. Grain is elongated, red or white, weighing 42.4–46.2 g, with good milling and baking qualities. The variety exhibits high resistance to major diseases and pests, as well as good winter hardiness and drought tolerance at standard levels. Field resistance to diseases is rated 7–8.4 points, winter hardiness — about 8.7 points, drought resistance — 8.4 points. Benefis responds well to mineral fertilizer application and is suitable for planting after all types of preceding crops, making it a versatile and reliable choice for farmers. The grain contains high protein levels — 13.7–14.3%, gluten — 26.4–29%, ensuring high flour strength and excellent baking properties. Flour strength reaches 267 units, and bread volume from 100 g of flour is approximately 1030 ml. The recommended seeding rate is 4.0–5.5 million germinating seeds per hectare, which contributes to achieving yields up to 8.8 t/ha. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, the Benefis variety is promising for intensive agriculture and production of high-quality wheat products.
