Winter wheat variety "Veteran" is an intensive soft wheat variety of universal use, developed by the Selection-Genetic Institute in Odessa. This variety is recommended for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine, due to its adaptation to the southern eco-type. Plant height ranges from 98-107 cm, making it medium-height. The vegetation period is 275-282 days, classifying it as medium-early.

The "Veteran" variety is characterized by high resistance to adverse climatic conditions, including frost, drought, and heat. Its frost and winter hardiness are above average, ensuring reliable winter survival. Additionally, the variety exhibits high resistance to lodging, shattering, and grain germination in the ear, which contributes to maintaining yield and quality. Tolerance to major fungal diseases of stems, leaves, and ears further enhances its reliability under various agroclimatic conditions.

The economic performance of the "Veteran" variety is also impressive: average yield over test years reached 8.6 tons per hectare. Gluten content ranges from 28.7-29.1%, indicating high grain quality and suitability for various processing types.
