NOVO-SIBIRSKAYA 16

Novo-Sibirskaya 16 is an early-maturing variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), characterized by medium height and strong straw. The vegetative period ranges from 67 to 88 days, allowing the variety to mature simultaneously with the Novo-Sibirskaya 15 variety. The weight of 1000 grains varies from 29 to 43 grams, with an average of around 35 grams. The variety belongs to the 'lutescens' group and possesses high baking qualities, including gluten content of 39.2% and crude protein in grain of 19.4%.

Novo-Sibirskaya 16 is recommended for cultivation in various climate zones, such as Lowland Subtaiga, Foresteppe on ordinary and southern chernozems, Pri-Chulym Forest-Steppe, and Kansk-Krasnoyarsk Forest-Steppe of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, as well as in the Republic of Tuva. The variety demonstrates resistance to lodging and drought resistance at the level of the standard, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable weather conditions.

Despite high yield reaching up to 46.8 c/ha and resistance to powdery bunt and powdery mildew, Novo-Sibirskaya 16 is susceptible to hard bunt, root rots, brown rust, and septoria. These features require careful attention to plant protection and application of appropriate agro-technical measures to maintain crop health and ensure high-quality harvest.
