SIBARD

The winter triticale variety «Sibard» was developed by scientists of the Ural Federal Agrarian Research Center and is intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia. It is characterized by high winter hardiness, reaching about 90%, and resistance to snow mold — one of the most dangerous diseases for winter crops. The plants are 95-105 cm tall, with a prism-shaped ear 8-10 cm long with short rachises at the top, containing 45-50 grains. The weight of 1000 grains is 40-42 grams. The variety is late-maturing, shedding 1-2 days later than the Valentin 90 variety.

«Sibard» is distinguished by its high biological potential and yield, which, according to state variety trials, averages 33-45.5 c/ha in various regions, with the maximum yield recorded in the Tula region reaching 56.2 c/ha. Compared to the reference variety «Bashkir Dwarf», the yield is 0.7 t/ha higher. The variety shows resistance to a range of diseases, including mild brown and stem rust, powdery mildew, septoria, Fusarium head blight, as well as high resistance to hard head smut and yellow rust.

Triticale grains «Sibard» are characterized by increased protein content — 13.2-15.6%, which is 1-2% higher than in wheat and 3.4% higher than in rye. The protein contains an increased amount of essential amino acids, which enhances the nutritional value of products made from this grain. Moreover, the grain is rich in vitamins, minerals, macro- and micro-elements, making the variety attractive for use in the food and feed industries.
