Ayna is a triticale variety, an intergeneric hybrid of wheat and rye, characterized by high productivity and adaptability to various climatic conditions. The variety was bred through crossbreeding and included in the State Register in 2018, and registered in Russia in 2023. Ayna features a mid-late maturity type and a semi-erect plant structure, which facilitates agricultural management. The grain of the variety boasts high biological value: the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 36.5 to 39.8 g, protein content is 13.8-14.9%, and crude gluten content is 28-34.4%. These indicators ensure excellent milling and baking qualities, including bread volume up to 950 ml.
The Ayna variety demonstrates high resistance to diseases such as root rots and viral infections, as well as drought and frost, making it particularly valuable for cultivation in challenging climatic conditions. It exhibits high ecological plasticity and is capable of yielding stable harvests even on depleted soils. Yield varies depending on the region and cultivation conditions, ranging from 23.1 to 45.6 c/ha, and in some trials exceeding 90 c/ha.
Ayna is recommended for cultivation in regions with harsh climatic conditions, such as the Aktobe, Kostanay, and North Kazakhstan regions, as well as the Ural region of Russia. Practical trials conducted in the North Kazakhstan region confirmed the variety's high yield—up to 33 c/ha, even under drought conditions. The use of high-quality seeds and optimization of sowing dates and fertilization contribute to the maximum realization of the variety's potential, making Ayna a promising choice for grain production in these regions.
