Winter triticale variety GLEB is a high-yielding hexaploid variety developed by FGBNU «P.P. Lukyanenko NCI». It is intended for producing fodder grain, green mass, and hay, and can also be used in baking and alcohol production. The variety is characterized by a medium-early vegetative period lasting from 246 to 292 days, with plants having a medium height from 80 to 94 cm with a short stem. The grain is red in color, and the mass of 1000 grains is 48–50 g.
GLEB is distinguished by high potential yield – up to 110 c of grain per hectare, while the average yield in various regions ranges from 45.1 to 72.5 c/ha, which exceeds average standards and indicators of other varieties. The variety has increased resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought, as well as medium winter hardiness and frost resistance at the level of the Consul variety. It is resistant to such diseases as yellow rust, septoria, and leaf spots, but is susceptible to head fusarium.
Protein content in the grain varies from 10.8 to 16.2%, which ensures high milling and baking qualities. Thanks to these properties, the GLEB variety is widely used in the baking industry, especially for baking bread according to rye technology, and is also used for alcohol production. Its versatility and adaptability make it in demand in various regions, including the Central Black Earth, North Caucasus, Lower Volga regions, Krasnodar Krai, and others.
