Sugar beet Okka

Stability as a Strategy: The Potential of Okka Sugar Beet

In the sugar beet market, selecting a hybrid is always about balancing yield potential with operational reliability. Syngenta has introduced "Okka" as a tool for farms that prioritize consistent results, even under challenging weather conditions. Classified as a normal (NE) productivity type, this hybrid allows for harvest planning without the risks associated with lodging or significant drops in sugar content.

A Phytosanitary Shield

The key advantage of Okka is its comprehensive genetic resistance to the most common pathogens affecting beet fields. In intensive farming systems, where the risk of foliar disease increases, this hybrid minimizes the need for frequent fungicide applications. Its genetic profile provides robust resistance to:

• Cercospora leaf spot;
• Downy mildew;
• Ramularia leaf spot;
• Powdery mildew.

Who is Okka designed for?

This hybrid from the Swiss breeder Syngenta is an optimal choice for producers utilizing intensive farming practices with strict adherence to sowing dates. It reaches its full potential in soils with adequate moisture levels. Unlike highly specialized high-sugar hybrids that demand perfect growing conditions, Okka is forgiving of minor agricultural variations, ensuring a uniform yield of high-quality roots. It is a "workhorse" for the professional segment, where predictability, root uniformity, and ease of harvest are paramount.
