Sugar beet SMART JASNA KWS

Stable yields despite high disease pressure

For agronomists operating in regions prone to heavy foliage disease outbreaks, the 'Smart Jasna KWS' hybrid is a pragmatic choice. This sugar beet hybrid from the German breeder KWS is categorized as a normal-yielding type (NE), making it the 'golden mean' for farms that need to balance high sugar content with root mass.

Disease resistance: Field-level benefits

The core advantage of this hybrid is its genetically programmed resilience against the most dangerous sugar beet pathogens:

• Cercospora leaf spot: A critical factor for regions with hot, humid summers, where the disease can destroy canopy within weeks.
• Ramularia leaf spot: Ensures the leaf surface area remains intact until harvest, directly influencing sugar accumulation.
• Powdery mildew: The hybrid effectively resists fungal growth, reducing the need for additional fungicide applications.

Utilizing 'Smart Jasna KWS' allows for the optimization of crop protection schedules. In farms where crop rotation is heavily saturated with beets, high leaf disease resistance provides an opportunity to reduce pesticide load without compromising yields.

Agronomic application scenarios

This hybrid demonstrates excellent responsiveness to intensive cultivation technologies. Due to its high adaptability, it performs well across various soil fertility levels. Under intensive farming conditions, 'Smart Jasna KWS' consistently hits its genetic potential, producing uniform roots that are well-suited for mechanical harvesting. Minimizing harvest losses is achieved through the optimal root shape and efficient extraction from the soil.

When selecting this hybrid, it is important to remember that its full potential is realized when sowing dates are strictly followed and water availability is managed during critical growth stages. It is the go-to choice for those who prioritize reliability and predictability at the end of the season, aiming for high raw material quality for processing plants.
