Sugar beet Olivia

Growth Dynamics and Performance

The first thing to note when working with 'Olivia' is its vigorous germination energy. Even in a cool spring, emergence is uniform, which is critical for establishing a consistent stand. As an E-type hybrid, it shows aggressive leaf development early on. This provides a distinct advantage: the foliage quickly closes the canopy, shading the soil and suppressing weed growth naturally.

• Root System: Deep and robust, allowing the hybrid to withstand short periods of soil drought without significant yield losses.
• Harvesting: The root shape is standard, with moderate soil penetration, significantly reducing losses during mechanical harvest. The leaves detach easily, ensuring a clean crop pile.

Economic Efficiency and Management

It responds predictably to standard nitrogen application schemes. A major benefit for the operator is its low susceptibility to bolting under stressful temperature fluctuations, saving you the costs associated with managing unmarketable product.

Compared to higher-sugar, lower-yield hybrids, 'Olivia' allows you to extract more tonnage per hectare. If your logistics are optimized for high-volume collection, this hybrid is your top choice. With timely application of fungicides against Cercospora and proper nutrient management, this variety provides consistently high output, which translates into real profit at the sugar processing plant gates.
