Description Alexandrina
Sorghum x drummondii variety represents an annual tall plant of the grass family, reaching up to 250 cm in height and possessing a deep root system that ensures drought resistance and allows for quick recovery after mowing. Due to good adaptation to various climatic conditions, it can be grown in a wide range of regions, including the central black soil zone and the North Caucasus region.

The variety is characterized by high yield of dry matter (up to 176.7 centners/hectare) and seeds (approximately 10–12.4 centners/hectare). The crude protein content in green mass reaches 11–12.33%, and in hay up to 5–9 centners/hectare. Sorghum is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and trace elements (Fe, Mg, Zn, Mn, K), making it a valuable feed for cattle and pigs.

The vegetation period is up to 120 days. Under optimal growing conditions, two to four cuts can be obtained per season: the first after 65–70 days, the second after 40–45 days, and the third after 30 days from planting. The recommended mowing height is 6–8 cm. Sorghum provides high energy value (17 ME per 100 kg) and is one of the best grasses in terms of protein content among hay-forming crops.
