Sudan grass Alexandrina

Focusing on Stability and Productivity

“Alexandrina” is a result of breeding work by the Agrarian Scientific Center “Donskoy,” firmly established as a reliable choice for forage production. This Sudan grass variety is designed for growers who prioritize a balance between vigorous growth and resistance to common pathogens. The key advantage of this model is its adaptability: the plants reach a height of 150–250 cm, displaying significant resistance to bacteriosis, which is often a decisive factor for producers dealing with varying climatic conditions.

Performance Metrics

• Hay yield: stable 6–8 t/ha under optimal management.
• Nutritional value: crude protein content in dry matter ranges from 10–12%.
• Seed weight: the 1000-seed mass is between 10–15 grams.
• Use intensity: the variety supports up to 4 cuts per season, allowing for flexible green fodder harvesting.

In field conditions, “Alexandrina” is recognized as a low-maintenance crop with high regrowth energy after harvesting. Thanks to the selection work by Russian breeders, the variety possesses the vitality required to deliver a full yield even when weather patterns shift. Farmers value this Sudan grass for its predictability; it avoids the specific requirements often associated with more sensitive hybrids while remaining a highly productive asset in the livestock feed supply chain.
