JUBILEYNOY 20

The Sudan grass variety 'Jubileynaya 20' belongs to dry-stem forms and is characterized by early ripening, cold hardiness, and drought resistance. The variety has medium bushiness; stems are 8–10 mm thick and reach a height of 180 to 245 cm. Leaves are dry, 48–50 cm long and 2.5–2.8 cm wide, while the panicle is pyramidal, spreading, and 30–35 cm long. Spikelets are lanceolate with chestnut-black chaff, seeds are ellipsoidal, light brown, and membranous, with a 1000-seed mass of 13.6–14.2 g.

The product is intended for the production of green feed and hay. 100 kg of hay contains about 57 feed units and 7.4 kg of protein. The sowing rate is from 0.7 to 1.0 million viable seeds per hectare. The variety is resistant to lodging and slight infections by bacterial blight and powdery head smut.

The yield of 'Jubileynaya 20' is high: up to 30.0 t/ha of green mass is achieved after two cuts, and dry matter ranges from 49.4 to 54.6 c/ha. Seed yield averages 1.8–2.3 t/ha. Maturation is early: the period from germination to flowering is 40–45 days, and by the time of seed collection – 85–95 days. Due to the combination of high feed value and resistance to unfavorable conditions, 'Jubileynaya 20' is a reliable choice for producing quality hay and green feed.
