Sea buckthorn RUET – a female variety of black sea buckthorn, characterized by high yield potential and early maturity. The medium-sized tree reaches a height of 2.5 to 3.5 meters; the canopy is compact, and branches are densely covered with short thorns in the upper part. The fruits are large, orange in color, weighing about 0.6–0.8 grams, acid-sweet, with a rich taste and fresh aroma. With proper care, up to 14 kilograms of fruits can be collected from one plant.
Sea buckthorn RUET is distinguished by high frost resistance – up to -35 °C, as well as drought resistance and disease resistance. The root system is open, so the plant prefers loose, organic-rich soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH of 6–7. For successful growth, a sunny location and regular feeding are required – with nitrogen-based fertilizers in the first and second years after planting.
Care for the tree includes moderate watering, especially during drought periods, preventive pruning to maintain canopy shape and ensure light access. If fungal infections (e.g., powdery mildew) or pests – mites, spider mites – occur, fungicides and insecticides must be applied promptly.
Fruits of sea buckthorn RUET are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, folic acid, and flavonoids. They contribute to boosting immunity, lowering blood pressure, and improving skin condition. The fruit can be consumed fresh or processed into various products – juices, compotes, canned goods, oils, etc.
