Description
Sea buckthorn variety "Inya" is a large-fruited type with an early ripening period, starting to yield harvest as early as the second year of planting. The bush is tree-like and medium-sized, featuring a flat-round, sparse canopy and average height. Branches depart from the trunk at an acute angle, thorns are rare and weak, leaves are large and lanceolate with a yellowish-green hue.
The variety's fruits are characterized by large mass – from 0.95 to 1 gram, cylindrical or broadly oval shape, red-orange skin with brightly colored spots at the base of the pedicel. The pulp is dense and aromatic, with a sour-sweet (or sweetish-sour) taste, making the berries suitable for fresh consumption as well as processing into juice, jam, and oil.
Yield is high: up to 161.5 kg/ha in mature age, and about 33–38 tons/ha from a single plant in five years. The variety is distinguished by early fruiting, frost resistance, and unpretentiousness to growing conditions, allowing it to be successfully cultivated in regions with cold winters and sharp temperature fluctuations. Fruits ripen in the first half of August to early September, and semi-dry detachment ensures ease of storage and transportation.
