Sea buckthorn ULALA

Technological features of the "Ulala" variety

The breeding success of FANTSA, embodied in the "Ulala" sea buckthorn variety, demonstrates a shift from wild forms to intensive culture. The primary engineering solution here is the modification of shoot morphology — the complete absence of thorns. For an agronomist, this means a significant reduction in time spent on sanitary pruning and, crucially, the ability to harvest manually or mechanically without damaging the berry skin.

Adaptability and Protection

Genetic resistance to the sea buckthorn fly is the key hub of the plant's biological defense. In conditions where chemical treatment of sea buckthorn plantations is difficult due to the extended ripening period, having built-in immunity helps prevent crop losses that can reach 80-90% in non-resistant varieties. This makes "Ulala" an economically sound choice for organic farming.

Productivity and Fruit Morphology

The biometric parameters of the variety are optimized for both industrial and domestic use:

• Fruit mass: Stable 0.7–0.9 g, ensuring high commercial appeal.
• Color palette: Intense orange-red pigment indicates a high concentration of carotenoids.
• Yield: 10–15 kg per bush when following irrigation and nutrition protocols.

The universal application allows the berries to be used for deep industrial processing (juice, oil, jam) or fresh market sale. The sweet-and-sour taste profile remains intact during freezing, which is critical for supply chain logistics.
