Ryegrass DORCAS

German genetics for productive pastures

Ryegrass «Dorkas» from the breeding house Deutsche Saatveredelung is a prime example of how German agricultural engineering adapts a crop for dual use. Unlike highly specialized varieties, «Dorkas» demonstrates high plasticity: it is used both for forming a dense, trampling-resistant turf and for creating a high-protein forage base.

Key Advantages

• Height: The 70–100 cm range allows the variety to operate efficiently in an intensive mowing regime. You get the maximum volume of biomass per hectare without sacrificing nutritional value.
• Versatility: An ideal option for farms practicing a combined approach — grazing livestock on plots that are allocated for hay or haylage production for part of the season.
• Regeneration: Thanks to DSV's selective breeding, the variety regrows quickly after mowing, which is critical for regions with short growing seasons.

Who is this variety for?

«Dorkas» is the optimal choice for agricultural enterprises that are unwilling to compromise between feed quality and landscape aesthetics. This is not just a grass mix, but genetically stable material that requires minimal maintenance while maintaining high shoot density. It is forgiving of minor irrigation errors but reaches its full potential in fertile soils with sufficient nitrogen supply.

If your goal is to create a pasture that can withstand active grazing while providing a stable yield, «Dorkas» is one of the most reliable tools on the market. It effectively competes with local weeds, outperforming them through sheer turf density.
