Annual Ryegrass «LOLAN» – a tetraploid Lolium multiflorum var. westerwoldicum variety characterized by late heading and high yield levels.
The crop is distinguished by rapid growth and excellent leaf area index: in the initial growth phase, the plants exhibit an intermediate semi-prostrate type, and the leaves are long and very wide. Stems grow up to 82 cm, providing sufficient height for haymaking. Upon heading, a large number of spikelets are observed, which increases the green mass output.
Yields reach 102 t/ha of green mass and 33 t/ha of dry matter with an average period from emergence to economic maturity of 55 days. Plant height at heading is approximately 82 cm, and leaf area index is 43%. The variety is disease-free throughout the vegetative period and is suitable for lawns as well as forage purposes, including haymaking and grazing.
