Ryegrass Storm

Working with Storm Ryegrass by DLF

When selecting seeds for pastures or sports fields, the key is consistency. Storm ryegrass from the Danish brand DLF has proven itself to be a reliable choice that performs exactly as expected without requiring complex management practices.

Growth Cycle and Utility

The primary advantage of this variety is its early maturity. With a vegetation period of 60–80 days, it allows for significantly earlier grazing or turf establishment compared to other varieties. In a pasture setting, this means livestock can be turned out sooner, maximizing feed efficiency. For sports turf, the rapid growth cycle ensures the soil is covered quickly, which is essential for erosion control and establishing a durable playing surface.

Performance and Maintenance

• Establishment: The variety shows excellent germination rates. Even under less-than-ideal starting conditions, it develops a strong root system rapidly.
• Durability: Designed for heavy usage, Storm holds up exceptionally well under foot traffic. For sports fields, its recovery rate after the playing season is impressive.
• Maintenance Requirements: While it is an intensive variety, it responds well to standard nitrogen fertilization, resulting in thick tillering.

Working with Storm, it is important to remember that it thrives on consistent moisture and proper nutrient management. It is a highly effective tool for overseeding; thanks to its aggressive early growth, it easily fills in thin spots in established swards, restoring the uniformity of the field or pasture. It is a straightforward, high-performance solution for those who prioritize efficiency.
