MELKVATRO is a tetraploid multi-cut ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam. ssp. italicum) known for its high productivity and even yield distribution. The plant reaches a height of 80 to 105 cm during heading, has medium leaf width and medium stem length, ensuring a dense and decorative sward.
The variety boasts excellent winter hardiness: after spring regrowth, it remains commercially viable for 45–50 days. High resistance to lodging and trampling makes MELKVATRO an ideal choice for lawns, roadside areas, and ornamental meadows and pastures. After cutting, the plants regrow quickly, allowing for more than two cuts per year.
MELKVATRO is widely used as forage grass: it can be sown alone or included in grass mixtures for rapid greening and formation of a dense cover. Thanks to its strong root system and high digestibility, the variety is suitable for silage, hay, and green fodder production. It is also recommended as a component of mixtures for field fodder production, ensuring high yield of green mass (up to 105–263 c/ha) and dry matter (41–58 c/ha).
