MARUSENYKA

Winter rye of the «Marusenyka» variety is a mid-early, dwarf, and high-yielding variety that is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to lodging and drought. Plants of the variety have a height of 98 to 135 cm, a semi-upright bush, moderate stem pubescence under the ear, and a strong waxy coating on the sheath of the flag leaf. The ear is semi-hanging, of medium density and length, the grain is very large with a mass of 1000 grains from 30 to 45 grams. The vegetation period is from 246 to 328 days, ripens simultaneously or 1-2 days earlier than the Saratovskaya 7 variety.

The «Marusenyka» variety is recommended for cultivation in the Central Black Earth, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, and Ural regions. Average yield in these areas reaches 25.9 c/ha, while the maximum yield was recorded in the Lipetsk region and amounted to 75.1 c/ha. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, comparable with the Saratovskaya 5 variety, as well as resistance to lodging and drought at the level of standard varieties. However, the variety is susceptible to brown rust and powdery mildew, and infection by ergot is at the level of the standard Saratovskaya 7.

«Marusenyka» has high milling and baking qualities, which makes it attractive for use in the baking industry. The baking properties of the variety are at the level of the standard, characterized by a high number of falling to 220 seconds. The pedigree of the variety is based on the method of complex hybrid populations, and the diploid form ensures the stability and quality of the grain. The breeders of the variety are the FGBNU «Southern East Agricultural Research Institute» and LLC «Agrocomplex Kurgansemena».
