Description RUSHNIK
Rushnik is a mid-late diploid variety of winter rye intended for baking use. The plants are medium-height, ranging from 96 to 142 cm, with an intermediate bush type and a semi-drooping, loose spike of medium length. The grain is medium-sized, with the weight of 1000 grains ranging from 23 to 32 grams. The vegetative period lasts from 304 to 349 days, corresponding to the maturation period of the Falenska 4 variety, from which Rushnik originates in terms of pedigree. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to lodging, making it a reliable choice for the Volga-Vyatsk and Central Volga regions. Drought resistance is at the level of standard varieties, while the falling number reaches up to 270 s; moreover, when harvesting is delayed by 5-10 days, the decline in this indicator occurs significantly slower than in the Falenska 4 and Kirovskaya 89 varieties. The average yield of the variety is 30.6 centners per hectare, while the maximum recorded yield reaches 61.5 centners per hectare. Rushnik possesses satisfactory baking qualities and is resistant to diseases such as brown and stem rust, snow mold, and powdery mildew. Under field conditions, infection by ergot is at the level of the Purga standard. These characteristics make the Rushnik variety promising for cultivation in the recommended regions, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield.
