SARATOVSKAYA 10

SARATOVSKAYA 10 is a mid-ripening winter rye variety developed by the Federal Agrarian Scientific Center for the South-East. It is characterized by high winter hardiness, drought resistance, and resistance to lodging, allowing for successful cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Lower Volga and Ural regions. The plant is medium or short stature (about 118 cm), with a medium-density spike about 8.9 cm long and large gray-green grain weighing 29-37 g per 1000 grains. The variety is resistant to lodging and to brown rust and powdery mildew within medium and weak degrees, respectively.

SARATOVSKAYA 10 demonstrates high yield—under dry conditions it reaches 4.5 t/ha, and potential yield can exceed 7.0 t/ha. The grain of the variety is distinguished by high natural mass and excellent baking qualities, including a high falling number and good vitreousness. Flour obtained from this variety meets the best standards for amylogram height, ensuring high-quality bread with a mold volume of about 430 cm3 and a dark-brown crumb color.

The variety is primarily intended for food use, but the grain can also be used to prepare compound feeds. In terms of protein and nutrient content, SARATOVSKAYA 10 is not inferior to other high-quality rye varieties, making it a universal and in-demand choice for agricultural production.
