The spring rye variety «Valdai» is a medium-maturing and high-yielding agro-variety developed using the individually-family selection method. It is characterized by stable yields, averaging 31.5 centners/ha in the Central region, and reaching maximum values up to 72.7 centners/ha in certain regions, such as Ivanovo. Rye «Valdai» features a uniform tillering, plant height ranging from 123 to 132 cm, and 1000 grain mass within 29–44 g, indicating high grain quality.
One of the key features of the variety is its good winter hardiness and resistance to lodging, ensuring reliable cultivation under various climatic conditions. The variety shows resistance to snow mold and effectively responds to seed treatment and crop processing, which helps reduce disease risk. At the same time, the variety is susceptible to brown rust and powdery mildew, requiring attention during agrotechnical measures.
«Valdai» possesses good baking qualities, making it in demand for the production of high-quality flour and bakery products. It is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Central, Northwestern, Volga-Vyatka, and Central Black Earth regions, confirming its adaptability and universality in agriculture.
