Description BEZENCHUYSKAYA 87
Bezenchuyenskaya 87 is a winter rye variety bred by the method of directed cross-pollination of a complex hybrid using the best collection samples and multiple selection on an intensive background. This diploid variety belongs to the vulgaris group and is characterized by a prismatic ear of medium length and density, a light yellow ear color, and yellow awns. The grain is oval-elongated, semi-open, light green in color with a admixture of yellow grains, and is distinguished by a large mass — 1000 grains weigh from 25.7 to 41 grams, which exceeds the indicators of standard varieties. The bushes have an intermediate form, and the average plant height is about 108 cm, which is lower compared to standard varieties. The variety belongs to medium-early and medium-late maturity periods with a vegetative period of 286 to 339 days, maturing simultaneously with standards. Bezenchuyenskaya 87 possesses increased winter hardiness and good drought resistance, which makes it suitable for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Volga region, Central Black Earth, Volga-Vyatsk, as well as Western Siberian and Eastern Siberian districts. The yield of the variety varies within 27.6-67.2 centners/ha, reaching an average of 42-60 centners/ha, which significantly exceeds the indicators of standard varieties. The variety is resistant to lodging, which contributes to preserving the crop and increasing productivity. However, Bezenchuyenskaya 87 has average resistance to powdery mildew and susceptibility to stem rust, snow mold, and brown rust, which requires the application of fungicide treatment of crops to protect plants. Protein content in the grain reaches 14.6%, which makes this variety attractive for industrial grain production technology. Thanks to the combination of high yield, resistance to adverse weather conditions, and quality grain characteristics, Bezenchuyenskaya 87 is a promising choice for agricultural production in various climate zones.
