The 'Zapovitne' sorghum variety was developed for use in the food industry, particularly for grain production, as well as in animal feed production for poultry and livestock. It is suitable for planting after harvest and for sequential plantings, making it versatile and convenient for farmers. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to melanosis of the grain, ensuring product quality and safety. The yield of the variety ranges from 5.5 to 6.5 tons per hectare, with a grain extraction rate of 77-80%. A key feature is its elevated protein content — approximately 14% — as well as an increased level of carotene, which enhances the nutritional value of the grain. 'Zapovitne' belongs to the intensive type of varieties with universal applications. It is early-maturing, with a vegetation period of 73 to 78 days, allowing for quick harvests. The plants are medium-height, ranging from 105 to 125 cm, with strong stems, ensuring high resistance to lodging (score 9) and grain shattering. The panicle is spreading, the grain is yellow, large, and spherical. The thousand-grain weight ranges from 9.0 to 9.5 grams, and the husk content is 16.3 to 17.2%. The recommended growing region for the 'Zapovitne' variety is the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine, where it demonstrates the highest yields and resistance. The variety was developed and recommended by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine, confirming its adaptation to local climatic conditions and agricultural requirements. Thanks to its characteristics, 'Zapovitne' is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality and high-yield products.
