SARATOVSKOYE ZHELTAYE is a medium-early maturing variety of yellow proso developed at the Southern East Agricultural Research Institute. It is characterized by a shortened vegetation period of 4-5 days compared to the Zolotistoye variety and possesses high resistance to lodging and melanosis. This variety is adapted to harsh arid conditions, making it particularly valuable for regions with extreme climatic features. Grain yield per hectare ranges from 2.0 to 4.9 tons, indicating its high productivity and economic efficiency.
Proso SARATOVSKOYE ZHELTAYE is a heat-loving annual grain crop distinguished by its unpretentiousness to soils and stable yield even in unfavorable climatic conditions. It can withstand high temperatures up to +40°C, allowing for successful cultivation in arid regions and use for late sowing after harvesting other crops. Due to its high nutritional value, the green mass, hay, and grain of this proso are widely used in animal husbandry. They are included in compound feed formulations for cattle, pigs, horses, and poultry, providing animals with necessary feed units.
For feeding animals, proso grain is recommended to be crushed before use due to its dense shell, which hinders digestion. Hay and green mass of the variety are characterized by high norms of feed units, making the crop an important component of rations in agriculture. SARATOVSKOYE ZHELTAYE is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, and Ural regions, as well as in the Stavropol Krai, Kursk, Penza, Volgograd, Saratov, and Orenburg regions.
