Millet White Altanka

Stable millet yields: the potential of the 'Bila Altanka' variety

The breeding work of the Poltava State Agrarian Academy has provided Ukrainian farmers with the 'Bila Altanka' millet variety, which is now considered a reliable tool for minimizing phytosanitary risks on the farm. In conditions where soil-borne infections and specific pathogens can destroy a significant portion of the harvest, choosing genetically protected seed material becomes the main lever for managing profitability.

Phytosanitary shield and resistance

The key practical value of this variety lies in its complex resistance to the main diseases of the crop. Agronomists choose 'Bila Altanka' for fields with a high infection background regarding smut diseases. Its genetically embedded immunity allows for a reduction in fungicide application costs, which is critical in conditions of limited working capital.

An important nuance: the breeding focus on resistance to a range of pathogens makes this variety extremely undemanding in crop rotation. This provides an opportunity to minimize risks when returning the crop to the field after short intervals.

Technological recommendations for farms

• Protection optimization: The variety demonstrates high field resistance, allowing for the optimization of the plant protection schedule, focusing on insecticide protection and weed control rather than combating fungal infections of the stem and panicle.
• Usage scenario: Ideally suited for farms implementing resource-saving technologies. Low demand for intensive fungicide schemes allows 'Bila Altanka' to be integrated into the sowing structure with minimal costs per hectare.
• Ripening stability: The variety ensures uniformity of crops, which simplifies combine settings during harvest, minimizing grain losses at the header.

By choosing this Ukrainian variety, the agricultural producer receives a predictable result backed by adaptation to local climatic realities. This is not just seed, but a breeding solution for those aiming to obtain a stable gross harvest with rational resource expenditure.
