Cazkovе Source — this is a high-yielding variety of millet (Panicum miliaceum L.), characterized by its medium-early maturity and excellent technological properties of grain. This variety was developed by the Institute of Plant Breeding named after V.Ya. Yur'ev of NAAN and registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2020. The recommended growing region includes Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia, indicating its adaptability to different climatic conditions. The variety is characterized by high drought resistance, resistance to lodging and shattering, ensuring stable yields even under adverse weather conditions.
The thousand-grain weight is 7.4–7.6 g, indicating large grain size. The grain yield reaches 80.8%, with huskiness at 17.4%, which is an indicator of grain processing quality. The incidence of melanosis ranges from 0.4% to 1.6%, indicating resistance to diseases. The grain has a bright yellow color, and the sensory quality rating of the porridge is 4.4 points, confirming the product's high consumer properties. Protein content varies from 12.8% to 15.8%, making this variety a valuable protein source.
