Alfalfa variety DEMETRA is a spring-season low-to-medium height plant with a semi-erect bush and leaves of medium-intensity green coloration. The central leaflet of this variety is of medium length and width, and the stem has medium length at full bloom. Flowers are predominantly blue-purple, with very dark shades occurring at medium frequency, while creamy, white, or yellow flowers are absent or extremely rare. The time to first flowering is early-to-medium, allowing for effective use under various agro-climatic conditions. The DEMETRA variety is distinguished by high dry matter yield. According to state variety trials in the West Siberian region, the average yield is 39.3 c/ha, which is 3.5 c/ha higher than the standard. The maximum yield reached 100.8 c/ha, significantly exceeding the indicators of standard varieties. In the East Siberian region, the average yield is 37.9 c/ha, slightly lower than the average standard, however, the maximum indicators reach 155.0 c/ha. The variety demonstrates good winter hardiness and medium drought resistance, as well as resistance to diseases and pests, including damage by pea weevil at the level of the standard. DEMETRA is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Siberia, including the West Siberian, East Siberian, and Far Eastern regions, as well as Zone V of the Krasnoyarsk Krai. The vegetative period for hay is about 72 days, which allows obtaining high-quality fodder material. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, this alfalfa variety is a reliable choice for agricultural enterprises focused on obtaining high yields and resistance to unfavorable conditions.
