ORLOVSKY SIDERAT2 – a narrow-leafed lupine (Lupinus angustifolius L.) cultivar intended for green manure use. The plant is erect, indeterminate, low-growing, with dark green leaves and white flowers whose keel tip is yellow. The pods are of medium length; seeds are gray without ornamentation in full maturity.
The cultivar is characterized by an early start to flowering and green ripeness, as well as a short growing period – 85‑90 days from emergence to seed maturation. This allows for the rapid accumulation of useful substances in the soil. High content of crude protein (up to 23% in green mass and 34% in seeds) makes it a valuable source of nitrogen for subsequent crops.
Lupin 'ORLOVSKY SIDERAT2' is distinguished by its low alkaloid content (no more than 0.851%) and resistance to fusarium wilt. Thanks to its well-developed root system, the plant absorbs macro‑ and microelements and also contributes to the development of beneficial bacteria, thereby improving soil fertility. After green manuring, other legume crops should not be grown; however, it is perfectly suitable as a precursor for potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, and other vegetables.
Dry matter yield of green mass in various regions exceeds standard indicators: 31.2 t/ha (average), while seed yield is 23.7 c/ha. The cultivar demonstrates high nitrogen-fixing activity, achieving a total nitrogen uptake of up to 190‑200 kg/ha, making it an effective means of improving soil fertility.
