Lupin Fregat

Reliability in the field: managing the Fregat lupine

When it comes to building a forage base, the priority is securing a consistent volume of green mass with minimal chemical input. The Fregat variety, developed by the V.R. Williams FRC, functions like a reliable workhorse—easy to manage because its field performance is highly predictable.

Field performance and resilience

The main advantage for the grower is its inherent immunity. Unlike more sensitive varieties, Fregat is forgiving when it comes to crop protection. In practical terms, this means fungicide applications against anthracnose, fusarium, and brown spot can be kept to a absolute minimum, or even skipped altogether if crop rotation is managed correctly. The plants are robust and resistant to common pests; aphids and weevils rarely reach the economic threshold, which significantly reduces the operational burden on sprayers and cuts pesticide costs.

Versatility in application

• Green forage conveyor: The vegetative growth is vigorous, which is vital for timing the harvest. The high canopy density ensures an excellent yield of nutrients per hectare.
• Pasture grazing: The variety shows impressive recovery rates after grazing.

Maintenance is straightforward, following standard agronomic practices. Fregat doesn't require precision-level care; it responds well to base fertilization and moisture while maintaining a dense enough stand to naturally suppress weeds.

For the operator, this translates into simplicity: fewer diagnostic headaches, fewer unplanned equipment deployments, and a reliable, high-quality green mass yield. It is the perfect choice for those seeking the optimal balance between productivity and field endurance.
