Smooth brome Roland

Why Roland Brome Grass is the Standard for Premium Lawns

When establishing a lawn, especially for commercial sites or high-quality residential areas, the primary challenge is not germination, but long-term survival. Roland brome grass from Feldsaaten Freudenberger GmbH&Co.KG provides a foundation that forgives operational errors and thrives where other grasses fail.

Operating Performance and Durability

From an operator's perspective, the aggressive root system of this variety is its standout feature. This isn't just decorative grass that burns out during the first dry summer. The rhizomes of Roland brome grass actively spread, creating a dense, robust turf. This is critical for slopes or high-traffic areas, as the soil remains stable and the turf recovers on its own.

• Traffic Tolerance: Ideal for areas where both aesthetics and functionality matter. The turf retains its resilience even under constant use.
• Drought Resistance: Once established, the need for frequent irrigation decreases significantly, which optimizes maintenance costs.
• Winter Hardiness: German breeding from Feldsaaten Freudenberger ensures predictable results; the lawn emerges from winter uniformly, without patches, eliminating the need for expensive overseeding.

Maintenance and Care

Regarding mowing, Roland behaves predictably. It follows a standard mowing schedule. However, there is a key detail: due to the density of the turf, it is essential to keep your mower blades sharp. A dull blade will fray the tough brome leaves rather than cutting them cleanly, which leads to yellowed tips. With regular maintenance, the lawn appears as a dense, deep-green carpet that doesn't require constant chemical boosters to maintain its health. It is a reliable choice for those looking to build a lawn that lasts for years, not just a single season.
